The start of a new year always fills me with gratitude, reflection, and renewed purpose. As I welcomed 2025, I found myself revisiting my journey—a path shaped by challenges, perseverance, and an unwavering vision. For over a decade, I’ve been working tirelessly to create a safe and supportive environment for children participating in sports. If you’ve followed my story, you know this vision isn’t just an idea; it’s the heartbeat of everything I do.
I grew up playing football on pitches that most people wouldn’t even walk on. I remember the sharp stones tearing at our shoes, the muddy fields turning every match into a battle against nature, and the ever-present risk of injury. These weren’t just games—they were lessons in resilience.
During local tournaments, I saw teammate fall and twist their ankles on a rocky and muddy pitch. Those images have stayed with me ever since. The pain on their faces wasn’t just physical—it was the frustration of knowing that these unsafe conditions were all we had. Moments like these planted the seed of a dream: to create better, safer spaces where children could play without fear.
Looking back, I’m amazed by how far we’ve come. Green-Kenya has grown into a movement that has impacted the lives of over 4,000 children through programs like the Green-Kenya Football Academy and Women Up. These children remind me of my younger self—filled with hope, determination, and an unshakeable love for the game. And now, we stand at a pivotal moment, ready to take our efforts to the next level.

This year, we aim to raise $20,000 to build a 7-a-side turf field. This isn’t just about creating a playing surface—it’s about transforming lives. This field will be a haven, a space where children can develop their skills, build confidence, and dream big without the fear of injury or limitation. My vision stretches far beyond Green-Kenya. I imagine a future where no child in Africa has to play on dangerous pitches. A future where communities rally around their children, ensuring they have access to safe, modern facilities that nurture their talents.
Here’s how you can be part of this transformative journey:
- Individual Contributions: Every dollar counts. Whether it’s $10, $100, or more, your contribution will bring us closer to our $20,000 goal.
- Corporate Sponsorship: Partner with us to leave a lasting impact and gain visibility as a champion of community development.
- Naming Opportunities: Leave a legacy by sponsoring specific sections of the field, such as goalposts, seating areas, or lighting.
I remember a moment not too long ago when one of our players, a 12-year-old girl, scored her first goal. The joy on her face lit up the entire pitch. After the game, she told me, “Coach, I want to play for the national team one day.”This field isn’t just about football. It’s about creating moments like that—moments of hope, joy, and limitless potential. It’s about showing children that their dreams are valid and worth fighting for. Together, we can create something extraordinary. We can provide a space where children are safe, inspired, and empowered.
Let’s raise $20,000. Let’s build this field. Let’s change lives.
Are you ready to be part of this journey?
