Across Africa, young people are witnessing the effects of climate change every day. Rising temperatures, flooding, deforestation, pollution, and poor waste management are affecting communities, livelihoods, education, and even sport. While many young people care deeply about the environment, few have access to practical training that equips them to become leaders and create lasting change.
We believe that environmental leadership begins with education. Through our Environmental Literacy Division, we are excited to introduce the Green Leaders Academy, a self-paced online learning programme designed to prepare a new generation of environmental leaders who can inspire action in their communities.
Why Green Leaders Academy?
The Green Leaders Academy is built on a simple belief: knowledge must lead to action.
Inspired by global environmental leadership initiatives, including the work of 10 Billion Strong, the academy combines environmental literacy, leadership development, and civic education to help participants understand environmental challenges while building the confidence and skills to address them.
Rather than simply teaching environmental concepts, Green Leaders Academy encourages participants to think critically, collaborate with others, and design practical solutions that improve their communities.
The course is divided into three interconnected modules that build both knowledge and leadership capacity.
- Leadership – Environmental change begins with people who are willing to lead.
- Environmental Literacy – Understanding environmental issues is the first step toward solving them.
- Civic Education – Real change happens when communities work together.
Flexible Learning for Busy Changemakers
The Green Leaders Academy is designed to fit around work, studies, and other commitments.
The programme:
- Runs for 6–8 weeks
- Is fully self-paced
- Can be completed online from anywhere
- Includes practical activities and reflection exercises
