Environmental Literacy

About

We teach young people to be environmental stewards in their context.Environmental Education is a holistic, lifelong learning process directed at creating responsible citizens who explore and identify environmental issues and engage in problem-solving.

Mission

To teach young people how to reduce their carbon footprint through play.

Vision

To help develop and expand children’s critical thinking skills, prepare them for citizenship, and nurture their appreciation of the environment.

We are partnering with 10Billion Strong to conduct Green Leaders Academy, a two-month online training course for university students and young professionals to learn key environmental literacy, leadership development, and civic engagement skills.

The training course comprises three environmental literacy, leadership, and civic engagement modules. It includes 15-20 hours of content which can be completed during a one-week intensive program or over several stand-alone sessions spanning a month. The content is available via an online Learning Management System (LMS) and offline for participants with limited internet access or if delivered by an in-person facilitator.

Environmental literacy training is STEM-focused and includes modules on ecosystems, flora & fauna, air, water, soil, food systems, waste, energy, transportation, urban design, sustainable development, pollution, circular economy, and the blue economy.

Leadership content focuses on personal leadership, creative problem-solving, transformative action, community building, and facilitation.

Civic engagement training builds effective leaders through content on environmental policy, movement building, working with stakeholders, and understanding governance frameworks.

Kick and Conserve is A program for young people in underserved communities, it includes Environmental Discussion Sessions, Environmental Games, and Fair Play (football). During environmental discussions, the captains are supposed to ensure that all the players in his/her team are present so that they can get one point each during the discussion. The sessions are delivered by community coaches with the help of environmental experts. The games are fun and take about 15 - 20 minutes per game before the players can go back to earn fair play points. For a team to emerge winners, they must take part in each activity and gain enough points to move on.
